Gentoo Linux

The Gentoo foundation has built is distribution based off of choice for the user. In other words, the user has complete control over the installation process and makes all of the decisions along the way, there is no automated installer for Gentoo. As such, Gentoo is geared more towards those individuals who wish to learn more about the Linux operating system and those who want a specialized installation of Linux on their machine.

The Gentoo Installation and Documentation

Since Gentoo requires lots of decision-making during the installation process, the Gentoo Foundation has put together great specific documentation on how to install Gentoo Linux.

Gentoo Linux installation comes mainly in two types, an online or network installation, and a offline installation. Which one you should choose is based on your enviornment. This documentation will briefly go over both types of installations and segway into the Gentoo Foundation documentation.

Install Gentoo with network install

A network installation is nice because it only requires one CD that you need to burn; however it will require a active connection to the internet to download the information.
